Write a check to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of a loved one, in honor of someone you admire, to celebrate a birthday or anniversary instead of exchanging gifts, or just because you want to help. Put "For Research-AAQI" on the memo line and mail the check to me:
Ami Simms
Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative
4206 Sheraton Drive
Flint, MI 48532-3557
Please include your email address on a sticky note so I can acknowledge the receipt of your check!
I will personally forward your check to the Alzheimer's Association and the AAQI gets the bragging rights. Most importantly, research gets the money.
Here are other great reasons to write a check:
- No time to make a Priority: Alzheimer's Quilt
- Enthusiastic bidding put the auction quilt you wanted out of range. (Tell me which quilt really floats your boat, and your check will be added to that quilt's total earnings for Alzheimer's research by the amount of your check. You'll also help those quilters pledging $1,000 to reach their goal sooner.)
- You found a handful of coins behind the sofa cushions, a crumpled single in your husband's pants pocket while you were doing the wash, or a flattened $5 tucked away that pocket in your handbag that you forgot was even there! FREE Money!
Got other suggestions? Tell me what they are and I'll post them below.
And…
- Don't want to go through the hassle of registering your quilt? Sell it yourself and send the money to the Alzheimer's Association through the AAQI. You don't get fame and immortality on the web page or a chance at the Bernina, but research gets funded and the AAQI gets to brag about it.
- Have your guild hold a silent auction, quilter's boutique, or other fundraiser for Alzheimer's research. Write the check to the Alzheimer's Association ("Research - AAQI" on the memo line) and let me hand deliver the check. That's what the Never Sweat Needlers in Dubois, Wyoming did!
- Don't want to GIVE your quilts away? Feel embarrassed about SELLING them to friends and relatives? Tell them you'll give them the quilt if they make a donation to Alzheimer's research in the amount you specify. Too chicken? Heck, I'll tell them what to write out their check for!
