These "squeezie-type" scissors pack a 3" blade and enough muscle to cut through 8 layers of tightly-woven (200 thread count) cotton fabrics, like those gorgeous batiks from Hoffman California Fabrics. After about 200 cuts (a little over 1/3 of the way through the fringe of my new Rag Fur Jacket pattern), you'll want to wipe off the fuzz, apply a dab of oil to the blades, and turn the screw counter-clockwise about 1/16th of a turn. Presto, change-o and they work like new! These are the best scissors I've found for this project! I'm not happy with the last shipment of Fiskars scissors and won't sell them to you. If and when we can find out why they're not making them the same way and we can get the GOOD ones again, I'll put the "buy" button back up. These WERE a great pair of scissors!
