I created this memory quilt for my sister-in-law for Christmas 2005. This memory quilt contains photos spanning six generations. After picking out the photos, I designed the quilt using fabrics which I had been collecting over the past few years from various states such as Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. The concept and design of the quilt was created during various golfing rounds while my husband and I were waiting to play our next shots. My sister-in-law loves flowers and gardening so I wanted to use floral fabrics. The embroidery blocks contain the name of the quilt “Mary’s Memory Garden” and a floral scene with a dragonfly. Two of the fabrics also have dragonflies (the pale yellow and the binding). I used the color green to bring the quilt together, since most flowers have green stems or leaves. I added batting to the binding to enhance framing of the quilt.
