Just spent an hour admiring the stash of quilters on your website and feeling so much better about my room; I'm not alone in making a mess of it. I'm from '61, married, 3 kids, 3 cats and a loving husband. Just recovered from Non Hodgkin's after chemotherapy these last 6 months. My sewingroom (I'm a machine girl) is a crammed place but it's all mine; 2x 3 meters with a 4-door closet on one site, 2 doors are covered with mirrors to give me more light and make it look more spacier. Unfortunately it also doubles the mess. Behind the 2 closed doors are more fabrics but not that much, 6 shelfs in total. Thought I started quilting 14 years ago, most of my fabrics are collected over the last 10 years. At first I only bought fabrics I needed for the quilt to be, it took me 4 years to kick that habbit. I buy a lot on the internetstores in the USA (cheeper by almost 50% from where I live; the Netherlands. ) and just love it when that package arrives. No washing before storing, I just love the smell of fresh fabrics. I store most of my fabrics in containers, I started doing it by sorting by series, like Fossil ferns, Hoffman batics, animal prints, Aunt Graces, etc. but lately all the containers are full as is my closet ans I put fabrics on top of and in between everything. Underneath my desk I have 4 big rollercontainers filled with more fabrics as well as UFO's and batting. I use my quilting machine (Bernina Aurora) downstairs on the diningtable, more space. And on the chairs around the diningroom are more bags. (blush) also filled with fabrics (blush) Needless to say I have a darling hubby with his own hobby, he dare not complain. Only when he's running out of clean shirts to wear.
