The Common Threads Quilt Guild of Lafayette, Indiana has a great idea for workshops —“professional ironers!” When visiting teachers present workshops for the guild several guild members volunteer to iron for their classmates. Students drop off strips or patches and pick them up a few minutes later. They get a lot more done during class and get a little exercise too. In exchange for their services the ironers get to audit the class free of charge or at a reduced rate.
They also make good use of the Internet. They have their own Website at www.MyFamily.com. Access to the Web page is by membership only, so it’s a “private” community for guild members and friends. Members can upload pictures, view and comment on pictures they’ve seen, post letters, issue invitations, and share all sorts of information. This is an ACTIVE guild and their Web site seems to keep up with their fast pace. To learn more about this free service for your guild or family follow the link above. (Beware: once you click the link, you’ll have to type in http:www.AmiSimms.net to get back here!)
