Dear Ami,
I have long admired the faux chenille quilts that are made with flannel. I also admired this bright fabric, I believe the line was called "feathers." Bright fun fabric and a warm comfy quilt. What more could a girl ask for? The directions seemed fairly simple, so off I went, making my very own chenille quilt.

No one told me that you are supposed to sew and cut CROSS grain. I ended up sewing with the grain and when I pulled my quilt out of the washer, I was HORRIFIED to find this.... mess in my washer. I have since trimmed all the strings off and sewn a piece of flannel over the top and currently use it in my cat carrier. I have not yet attempted another chenille quilt, but it is on my to-do list for the future.

Ami, even if my quilt is not the worst out there, I hope that some other quilter will learn from my mistake. That will make my quilt worth while. Thank you.

Hugs,
Melinda
