Dear Ami,
I'm from Raleigh, North Carolina. I saw you on the HGTV Quilting show with your picture quilts and decided to do one of my own. My grandmother passed 2/19/02 and I wanted to make something I could remember her by and a picture quilt was just thing. I've always been interested in crocheting and quilting growing up but hadn't had the chance to learn to quilt yet. So my mother, sister and I went over to my grandfather's house to clean one Saturday and I gathered all the pictures I could find of my grandmother, grandfather and all ten of their children. I had to hide the center picture from my grandfather for three months because he was looking for it but I didn't want to tell him what I was planning to do with it. The quilt features my grandmother and shows my grandfather and all their kids. I even found a picture of my grandmother and grandfather when they were 18 years old. Once I gathered the pictures I began to order the items from your website that I needed. It took me a year and a half to complete this quilt. Even though it's my very first one I am very proud of the work I have done. It's not the straightest but it's mine and I wanted to share it with you and all the other viewers. Please let me know what you think and any tips on how to make a better looking quilt. I want to make another for my sister who recently got married in November of last year, but I want to make it look a little neater. Thanks again for sharing your ideas with all of us.
Sincerely,
Von Rountree
