Ami, I took your workshop in Naperville in March this year (2009) with my sister Pat Lipscomb and had a great time. Without reservation, I can say it’s the best workshop I’ve ever attended. Thanks so much!!! Hope you had as much fun as my sister and I did.
I made these quilts for my beautiful granddaughters, Mattie and Ava, who were born May 17, 2009. Given that the girls are twins, “Twisted Sisters” is the perfect block. Mattie’s quilt is called Mint Chocolate Chip and Ava’s quilt (inset) is called Chocolate Covered Cherries.
I tried my hand at mitered compound borders (a 2” border then a 1/4" “crumb-catcher” then a 4” border) and love the effect. The quilting on the borders is my first attempt at freehand quilting. I learned a lot making these two blankies. The block is challenging, but really fun to make and I can’t wait to make another. Next time, I’ll use the same fabric for the background in each block so the twists look like they’re floating.
